The Wellness Reset: 5 Daily Mindset Shifts to Change Your Life

Updated: Dec 9, 2024

Wellness is a conscious, self-guided, and constantly evolving journey towards reaching your full potential. This requires you to become aware of and make choices for a more fulfilling life, fostering a mindset that supports you to become the best version of yourself. By committing to making small changes in our thinking and approach to life, we can significantly enhance our overall health and well-being.

5 Daily Mindset Shifts to Improve Your Wellness:

Growth Mindset

Growth mindsets believe that you can achieve anything you set your mind to through dedication and hard work. Instead of viewing challenges as setbacks, begin to view them as opportunities to learn and grow.

Daily Practice #1

At the end of each day, reflect on one of the challenges you faced and note the lesson or learning you gained from it. When confronted with a problem, ask yourself, "What can i learn from this?" Over time, this mindset will empower you to overcome obstacles with resilience and confidence.

Gratitude

One of the simplest, yet most powerful tools for enhancing wellness. By focusing on what we are grateful for, we shift our attention from daily stressors and negative thoughts. This opens our eyes to the positives and the wonders of the world around us. It can be as simply as appreciating a warm cup of coffee in the morning, or a smile from a stranger.

Daily Practice #2

Start a gratitude journal and write down 3 things you are grateful for each morning or evening. Over time, you will begin to find more positive moments in every day.

Reframe 'I Have To' with 'I Get To'

The language we use profoundly influences our mindset, often more than we realise. One simple, impactful change is replacing 'I have to' with 'I get to'.

This small shift can turn routine tasks into privileges, cultivating a sense of appreciation.

Daily Practice #3

Throughout the day, notice when you say 'I have to' and start to reframe this to 'I get to'. For example, instead of saying 'I have to go to work', reframe this to 'I get to go to work'. Notice how this small change affects your mindset.

Focus On What You Can Control

We often worry about things outside of our control. By focusing only on what you can control or influence, you can alleviate unnecessary stress and cultivate a more relaxed mindset. If a situation feels overwhelming, ask yourself, "What part of this can I control?". This approach empowers you to stay grounded in the present moment.

Daily Practice #4

Write a list of what you can and cannot control in any situation that arises. Focus on taking action on the things you can control and choose to let go of what you cannot.

Self-Compassion

We can be our own harshest critics, which can impact our overall well-being. By practicing self-compassion, we start treating ourselves with the same love, kindness, and respect that we would offer a loved one.

Daily Practice #5

When you catch yourself being self-critical, take a moment to pause and ask yourself, "What would I say to a friend in this situation?". Shift your inner dialogue to be more compassionate and supportive of yourself.

Implement these powerful mindset shifts into your daily practice and you will bring more peace, resilience, and positivity into your life. Start with the practices that resonate most with you and gradually introduce the others.

There is no wrong or right way, or timeframe. Do what feels right for you, and over time you will find that these small mindset shifts will lead to significant improvements in your overall well-being.
